Friday was new music Friday.  First off, after work, I picked up--you guessed it--Hanson's Live and Electric album.  Don't worry, Taylor wears a kerchief.  But he wears it like a man! 

Then our Jewish postperson, Mr. Mailmann, left me a package from Mattsy bursting at the seams from Liz Phair, Aimee Mann, Sheryl Crow, Shawn Colvin, and Bette Midler.  That's right, Bette Midler.  No, Bethany, "The Rose" isn't on there.  But, Raker, a cover of B.F.F.'s "Boxing" is.  Aaaaboo everyone.

Mijim is in town.  Nerrrvous?

Bethany tomorrow.

Jeffy on Wednesday.

Sam on Friday.

See how they all come on the same weekend by coincidence?!?

Mijim and I went out for sushi yesterday and it became an episode of...

We were being waited on by an older Japanese (in Italian:  giapponese) woman who didn't speak much English.  Which sounds normal, but in the Goodlettsville Japanese (in Italian:  giapponese) restuarant, getting an actual person descended from actual Asians is rare.  Anyway, after our waitress served us our beers, a younger, English-speaking waitress came up after she'd left and said:

"Everything okay?  ...Good.  She's new here.  She's from Japan and she can't speak much English.  And I wanted to make sure everything was going well.  ...She's not very good, and some people have complained. ...She's going through a divorce right now.  So if anything goes wrong, you tell me, my name's Jaimee."

Here's where I turn into "old man grumpus:"  Hello!  Professionalism?  Are you in there?  Don't tell me that she's not good!!!  And certainly don't tell me she's going through a divorce!!!  Just come up, make sure I've got everything and get the fuck out of here!

Oh, Mijim and I are pretty sure that the Japanese (in Italian:  giapponese) woman thought we were lovers:

"Are you........................................................separate?"

Which probably means:

"Are you plowing each other on a regular basis?"

And then when she took our beer order, the lights promptly dimmed and--here's the coup-de-gras--Alicia Bridges' "I Love the Nightlife" came on.

Set the mood perfectly.
